"Perhaps you placed a baby for adoption years ago, much like Darlene. She was pregnant in a day and age when the feelings of natural mothers were never taken into consideration. To surrender your child to be raised by another is without a doubt, the most difficult thing you’ve ever faced. You will always wonder about the safety and care of your child. Notwithstanding, you do not have to relive your grief and anxiety. Please, let Darlene’s life now speak to you.
You can trust God’s heart, though you cannot always see His hand at work. He is loving and just, even when we do not know or understand His plans or purposes. You must come to the restful conclusion that God, who desired and designed your baby, loves him or her in a way that cannot be described in human terms or fully grasped.
Don’t give up! More opportunities exist than ever before--thanks to the internet--to get your information listed with a free registry. You can enlist the volunteer help of “search angels” or if able, pay a nominal fee to have your information on an active registry. Social sites abound on the internet with specialized blogging groups for birth moms and adoptees.
Read other stories and respond; be a healing balm for others. Reach out and share! Join a support group for birth moms/adoptees or start one in your area. Whatever you do, pray for your child, wherever he or she is, to come to know Jesus--to delight in His will and walk in His ways. And then, if not in this life, for sure in the life to come, faith will turn to sight.
The same advice goes to you who are seeking your birth mother. Don’t give up! Get what information you have out there on registries, on specific blogging groups and support forums, and be an active part of a group of adoptees that can meet face to face and develop friendships.
But be advised--there are no guarantees that you will have an ideal outcome. You must pray as I did, asking the will of the Lord regarding your pursuit and what you will discover. But this truth I knew as I searched:
“All things work together for the good of them who are called according to the purposes of God” (Romans 8:28 nkjv).
Pray for this wonderful, brave lady who gave you the gift of life. Pray for her to have eternal life in Christ Jesus and speak the blessings of God upon her and her family, wherever she is. Trust God that He knows what is best for all of us. If a reunion is not granted now, then later in His presence you can eternally enjoy each other’s company."
